3D Workshop at SmartLab Măgurele

3D Printing – A Skill for the Future

3D printing is one of the technologies rapidly transforming fields such as engineering, medicine, architecture, design, and education. As it becomes increasingly integrated into industry and everyday life, it offers young people the opportunity to develop creativity, technical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Through 3D modeling and printing, students learn how to turn an idea into a real object by following every stage of the design process—from concept and digital model to the finished product. In this way, technology becomes a powerful tool for hands-on, experiential learning.

SmartLab Măgurele – A Space for Creativity and Technology

This week, SmartLab Măgurele welcomed 16 middle school students from the Bucharest–Ilfov region who enrolled in our educational activities during the summer holiday.

We are delighted to see students choosing to spend part of their summer exploring new technologies and developing practical skills. Their curiosity and enthusiasm for creating personalized objects show that learning can continue with excitement beyond the classroom.

SmartLab Măgurele is an educational space dedicated to introducing students to 3D modeling and 3D printing. Equipped with modern technology and 3D printers, the lab enables participants to explore their ideas and transform them into personalized creations in an interactive and engaging environment.

What Did the Workshop Include?

Accompanied by their parents, the participants arrived at SmartLab Măgurele eager to begin their experience. They were welcomed by our colleague Laurențiu Dinu, the workshop coordinator, who introduced them to the world of 3D printing.

The session began with a presentation of the educational activities organized by MSP throughout the year, along with information on how students can participate in future projects and workshops.

The second part of the workshop focused on hands-on activities. Students were introduced to Tinkercad, one of the most widely used platforms for learning 3D design. Using the software, they created personalized digital models and discovered how these designs can be transformed into physical objects with the help of 3D printers.

Creativity Never Takes a Vacation

The participants proved that imagination doesn’t take a summer break. In just a few hours, they designed a variety of projects—from nature-inspired souvenirs and decorative objects to logos and personalized totems.

The enthusiasm with which they explored Tinkercad confirmed once again that, when students are provided with the right tools and encouraged to experiment, their creativity can lead to remarkable results.

A 3D-Printed Souvenir for Every Participant

The experience did not end when the printers stopped. At the end of the workshop, each participant was invited to choose a small 3D-printed figurine prepared by our team before the event, giving everyone a special keepsake to remember their time at SmartLab Măgurele.

We are grateful to the 16 participants for their energy, curiosity, and creativity throughout the workshop. We look forward to welcoming them again to future educational initiatives organized by MSP, where we will continue exploring the technologies shaping the future together.
