Romanian innovation for a sustainable energy future in Europe
TRESOIL Biofuels SRL is a Romanian green tech company developing modular solutions for converting non-recyclable waste (plastic, municipal, toxic) into renewable energy – electricity, hydrogen, ammonia, and solid carbon. Through its strategic project, TRESOILPower2X, the company proposes a scalable, replicable model that supports the circular economy and Europe’s energy transition.
TRESOIL’s goal: to deploy 50 Waste-to-Energy micro-plants across the EU by 2035, located close to waste sources. These compact, containerized, pre-assembled units eliminate the need for polluting infrastructure and produce zero secondary emissions.
PHEW2H2 DMG® Technology
Based on Powerhouse Energy’s platform, the technology uses ultra-high temperature (UHT) gasification to convert waste into ultra-pure hydrogen (99.9%), electricity, and other green by-products – all without chimneys, harmful emissions, or toxic residues.

A Solution to Europe’s waste & pollution crises
Europe faces:
• Over 400,000 premature deaths/year due to air pollution
• A ban on plastic waste exports to third countries
• An urgent need for local, scalable, and clean solutions
TRESOIL provides a clear response by turning local waste into clean energy with no negative environmental impact.
TRESOILPower2X Project
TRESOILPower2X is more than a technology – it’s a new approach to waste treatment and energy generation, delivering positive outcomes for the environment, economy, and communities across Europe.

The modular, containerized micro-complex integrates:
• Digital Twin: full virtual simulation for process optimization, risk and cost reduction
• Modular physical units: pre-assembled, easy to install, automated operation
• Active technologies:
o Green hydrogen (H₂), DC power
o Green ammonia (NH₃), e-methanol, SAF (sustainable aviation fuel)
o Black carbon/graphene recovery
o 10 MW electrolysers

Impact & sustainability
• Net-zero business with low operating costs
• Fast deployment (on-site in 3–4 months)
• Minimal staffing required
• Local raw material: non-recyclable waste
• Export-ready products (H₂, NH₃, black carbon)
• Supports EU climate goals: Green Deal, Fit for 55
EU Recognition
TRESOIL received the Horizon 2020 Seal of Excellence from the European Commission (EISMEA) for innovation in clean energy. A pilot project has already been implemented in Cumpăna, Constanța County, Romania.
